Education: innovate on the edge

Hundreds of millions of students now fill classrooms around the world, more than history has ever seen. And students can now take advantage of new educational tools that are available both locally and globally. This free online access to some of the most important knowledge from the best centres of learning is going to have a spectacular impact on educational systems across the world. Our learning methods are going to change dramatically; online tools gain a whole range of new potential when used collaboratively, and learning online enters a whole new dimension of social learning. The more we learn about how we learn, the more we understand that it is not in our nature to think. Thinking is hard work, and only under the right conditions, when thinking is an enjoyable activity, do we efficiently store the results of our thinking in our memory. Once we know this, we can see the importance of games as a learning mechanism. And we rediscover that games should be both virtual and physical: we should be playing with these new devices, especially smart devices. This is all achieved through projects organised by means of adaptive software that enables personalised learning (the school of one).聽 The future of education is education on demand, with accurate knowledge made available at the right time.

Por primera vez en la historia, hay en las aulas del mundo centenares de millones de alumnos. Y tienen a su disposici贸n tanto los instrumentos聽 educativos cercanos (locales) como los lejanos (globales). 驴Qu茅 impacto tendr谩 en los sistemas educativos el acceso libre y online al mejor conocimiento liberado por los grandes centros de aprendizaje del planeta? Por otro lado, la forma de aprender va a cambiar. Los instrumentos online alcanzan un nuevo sentido cuando se usan de forma colaborativa: el online learning cambia de dimensi贸n con el social learning. Conforme sabemos m谩s sobre c贸mo aprenden los humanos, m谩s entendemos que lo normal es no pensar. Pensar cuesta, y solo en las condiciones adecuadas, cuando disfrutamos pensando, conseguimos conservar el resultado del pensamiento en nuestra memoria. Ello asigna gran relevancia al juego como mecanismo de aprendizaje. Y redescubrimos que el juego debe ser tanto virtual como f铆sico: jugar con objetos, en especial con objetos dotados de inteligencia. Todo ello a trav茅s de proyectos, que se organizan gracias a software adaptativo que permite un aprendizaje personalizado (hacia la 鈥渆scuela de uno鈥). El futuro de la educaci贸n: disponer del conocimiento preciso en el momento adecuado (educaci贸n on-demand).
